Gladys Louise Porter

May 15, 1929 - July 4, 2014

May 15, 1929-July 4, 2014. At Picton Memorial Hospital in her 86th year (and still holding at an ageless 29). Happily remembered, dearly Loved and sadly missed by her angelic children, Kirk and his wife Beth of Uxbridge, Lisa and her husband Rob Hedger of Wellington and Kent and his wife Karen of Brooklin, Ontario. Amazing Gramma to Ashley, Keldon, Shannyn, Kelsey and Chase. Pre-deceased by beloved husband Doug and sister Verna (Fred Wagg). Loving sister to Bill Jones (Pat) and Ruth (Biill Andrews) Gladys always spread bright rays of sunshine (along with many business cards) around the county and the globe, during regular travels and while pursuing a multitude of interests, scuba diving, kayak tripping, tai chi, auction sales, life guarding, hiking, camping, elephant and camel jockeying. Gladys is especially fondly remembered for her lion hunts with the grandchildren, her black belt in shopping, skits with the Quinte Travel Trailer Club, charity work (CNIB, UCW, Rotary club, Meals on Wheels), real estate, teaching and being a Hockey Mom. Always up for an adventure, Gladys has now embarked on her next most fulfilling journey of all … to be with her Lord and Saviour on Holy Ground. Special thanks and sincere appreciation to Pastor Peter Spragg, Rev. Phil Hobbs, Dr. Russell, all her faithful friends and wonderful caregivers at Fraser House, Mcfarland Home and most recently Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital. A remembrance celebration for a live well lived to be held at Picton United Church on July 31 at 7pm. All welcome! A gathering at Picton Royal Canadian Legion for family and friends will follow the service. If desired, donations to Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital Foundation or the Rotary Club of Picton would be appreciated.
