Charles "Charlie" Cowan

December 3, 1922 - July 16, 2005

It is with great sadness we announce the death of Charlie at the Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital, on Saturday, July 16th, 2005. Charles Cowan, of R. R. #1, Cherry Valley, at the age of 82. Beloved husband of Ruth. Loving father of Stephen and his wife Linda, Wayne and his wife Susan, Joe and his wife Mary Dawn, Terry and his wife Laura Lee, Barry and his wife Wanda, Shawn and his partner Jennifer Lisk and Allan and his partner Cara Burns. Father in law of Krista Cowan. Son of the late Harry and Annie Cowan. Dear brother of Herb and his wife Anita and the late Ethel, Harold and Clarence. Brother in law of Rita Cowan. Sadly missed by his nieces Pauline O'Brien, Alice Cowan, Judy Rorabeck, and his nephews David, Brian and Danny Cowan. Lovingly remembered by his grandchildren Cynara, Lincoln, Kira, Jeremy, Teri-Lyn, Michael, Rachel, Robyn, Lisa-Marie, Krista, Tyler, Amy and Tristan, and his great grandchildren Malaki, Zion and Aidan. Grampa held a special place in their hearts. Mr. Cowan is resting at the Whattam Funeral Home, 33 Main Street, West, Picton. Funeral Service in the Chapel on Tuesday, July 19th, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. Reverend Robert Jones Officiating. Interment at Cherry Valley Cemetery. If desired, donations to a Charity of Your Choice would be appreciated by the family. Charlie, our darling husband and dad made this world a better place. We Will Miss Him. Dad enjoyed life and the outdoors. He was a former Military Reservist during WWII, Scout Leader, Sports Player/Coach, Avid Trapper, Hunter, Fisherman Extra Ordinaire, Storyteller, Gardener, Commercial Fisherman, Historian, Champion of Human Rights, and defender for those who couldn't look after themselves. Charlie became a Big Brother and Father to other people's kids that were in need. Dad was a Proud Canadian with direct lineage to the First Empire Loyalist settlers in Prince Edward County. Friends are invited to visit the family on Tuesday from 10:00 til time of service at 11:00 a.m.
